For our Elementary Program – we will also be providing lessons to our campers under the theme of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineer, Arts, Math) as well as focusing on Sports & Physical Activities. It will be planned and taught in accordance to their age and ability therefore, some lessons will be in groups & rotation, some lessons will be in a large group with everyone.
Most Mornings are planned for STEAM Education and Afternoons are planned for Group Based Activities to balance knowledge and application.
As mentioned above, in order to be effective in helping our children learn to their fullest this Summer, depending on the week and the enrollment of campers, during the morning sessions, we may split into having two groups and will be teaching in rotation. For example, Group A – Grade 1 to 3 students will have Science first, then Sports & Physical Activities / Group B – Grade 4-6 will have Sports & Activities, then Science.
Lessons are approximately 40 minutes long per day with the intention of 5-10 minutes focused on instructions/guidance and 30 minutes of hands-on practical activity. Our lessons are planned in accordance with selective learning objectives aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Elementary Aged Students for the subjects we teach: https://www.dcp.edu.gov.on.ca/en/curriculum#elementary
Depending on the subject, campers will be taught the subject a minimum of twice a week and maximum of four times a week.
Every week, the themed parks and attractions are focused individually, meaning, there will be no effect on your child’s experience and learning even if they join non-continuous weeks. (e.g, your child will be coming on Week 2, 4, and 8).
All lessons will be different throughout 8 weeks BUT all activities will be under the umbrella of the subjects on STEAM & Sports.
